hello again

we went over to debbie's tonight with saffi. we made dinner: homemade pesto pizza, ceasar salad, and brownies. drew made a big roaring fire, and we watched the dogs play in the living room.
we CAN'T WAIT for holidays, seeing our families, giving presents, and enjoying each other. drew and i are planning quite a few road trips this year: niagara falls, hilton head, st. louis. we've also been thinking of going to paris, staying in hostels, backpacking...

COUNTDOWN!

Electricity & 50mm

We are back in the light after one week without electricity. Saturday we watched (and crossed our fingers) as workers all the way from Jacksonville reconnected the power lines. Just when we were getting used to making coffee the old fashioned way!



Also, in excitement for beth's trip to tokyo in november, she bought a 50mm/1.8 lens. After testing it's loveliness on drew and saffi, we think she's ready for Japan.

drew snagged the camera while i was out in the front yard with saffi. even with my buddy holly disguise glasses he did an amazing job.

we've had a restful afternoon, folding origami as the sun goes down.

i waited as long as i could to give drew his presents - this time i waited until late friday night! it's a record!
i think he was very pleased. still a few big things coming in the mail.

more sunbathing saffi

the plants are growing so well here. drew bought a 15 year old bonsai for our anniversary and i spent the morning pruning it's branches.

changes

many memorial day functional changes have occurred. here:

the second bedroom has been reclaimed as a guest room, moving the daybed/couch and dresser into that space. now guests have a real bed instead of inflatable mattress, and a place to put clothes. it also doubles as a reading space for drew and a hidden computer work area.

Also, beth added to her excessively specific collection (50's animation style animal salt and pepper shakers) with this pair of cats. She also won a pair of squirrels and deer, to arrive later this week.



Lastly, we had Debbie and Geoff over for lunch and scrabble sunday. We'll post those photos shortly. Drew made mexican pie which went perfectly with the frozen strawberry cake dessert.
